the same Mentality

I've been trying my best to think of a good way to describe Sunday's service. and just a few minutes ago I read another NVMCer's blog that described it perfectly. It's weird, but the three things that he mentioned were the exact 3 things that I was telling my sister about on Monday. All us NVMCers have the same mentality! :)

So now you'll have to go read what we're talking about....NoeFool

It's all about the cake....

Leslie's baby shower is coming up and me and a friend were talking about her cake. She said she was going to look into getting a "pregnant belly" cake for the shower. I had never seen one so I did what I always do - Googled it. Not only did I find the "belly" cake but I also found some other really ugly cakes for baby showers. You'd think that for a baby shower they would be nice and cute! I thought I'd share some of the ones that were not cute! I even found one that is so HIDEOUS I can't won't put it on my blog! But here are a few that are just plain WEIRD.

Take a close look!

Looks like a giant baby head!

The girl that makes the "belly" cakes can't do it that weekend so Leslie can rest assured that we will be having a "normal" baby shower cake!
And if you find these cakes funny then you'll love the blog I found while searching! http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/

Happy Birthday Christy

Today I would like to wish one of my best good friends a Happy Birthday! Her name is Christy and she is awesome! You see I’ve known Christy for as long as I can remember remembering! There has not been a time in my life with out her and I hope there never is! I can’t even begin to describe how my life has been better because of knowing her! She was there for me during the worst time of my life and even though there were times when we didn’t see each other that often, we could always call each other and just pick up where we left off. She has been a great friend to me and I value our friendship. She is caring, forgiving, funny and just an all around good great person! She’s an amazing mom and I guess she’s pretty good to Gary too! I hope she has a wonderful birthday!

And while I'm at it I guess I should wish David Pastor David a Happy Birthday too (the REAL evil twin! HE-HE)

P.R.A.I.S.E

Last night's service was awesome! Pastor Darlene Bishop started her message with a verse that I actually know, have memorized and even have it on my refrigerator - Proverbs 3:5. It says
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding"

I am amazed every day how God works! Yesterday morning I was reading Psalm 34 before work and in the beginning of that chapter it says
"I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth."
and then later in the chapter it says
"The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart"
Then last night Pastor Darlene was talking about Praising God no matter what! Praising Him in the valley because He is always with you in the valley. She said Praise is People Rising Above Incident Saying Enough!
SO even though today is a day that will always be a "bad day" for me because of what happened on this day in 1986 and I STILL don't understand why things happen the way they do, I will shut the door on my broken heart and trust in the Lord and lean not on my own understanding. I will say enough to dwelling on the sadness of it. and
"The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him."

Reaching the World...

Church was awesome yesterday! I learned a lot about the diversity of our city. Did you know that there are 91 countries (not including the US) that are represented in our city?! I probably couldn't even name 91 countries! Ninety-One! That is amazing to me! I can remember as a little girl, our churches always talking about missions and how we would have missionaries come and speak on mission Sunday. I can also remember how boring I always thought it was. BUT I can assure you, yesterday by all means was far from being boring! Yesterday changed the way I felt about missions. We don't have to go to a foreign country to reach the world. All we have to do is step outside! All I have to do is go to work! All you have to do is drive down the street! NVMC is going to reach the world through our city and we mean it when we say "we're a Church for people like you!"
