Diane: "I came across this website the other day where you put your name in and it tells you your Hawaiian Name"
Me: "Oh Really?"
Diane: "Yeah, so I looked up your dad's name, guess what it is in Hawaiian?"
Me: "what?"
Diane: "Well, I looked up Donnie (that's what she calls him) and it's Konie!"
Me: (Laughing!!) "oh my, I've named my dog after my dad!"

Busy
I'm just thankful that I didn't have to work Sunday! Because I would have missed two great services! Second service - we had an old fashioned prayer line! Leslie was unfamiliar with this so when I told her what they were doing - it touched her so much it made her cry, but then again that's not unusual for her - but it still really touched her!

Here's what I said...
Well, just like you think he’s the best Pastor in the world, I know I’ve got one of the best dad’s in the world!
That same love he has for God and this church – He has that love for his family!
The same wisdom he brings to you in each service – it’s even better over breakfast and coffee!
The same zeal and passion that he has in his voice when he’s speaking the Word– oh he has that as a dad too! Especially when you’ve been caught doing something you shouldn’t be doing! Just ask Christa…
He's the most awesome man I know! He loves the Lord and leans on him for everything. He's faithful to his church and not just because he's the pastor, either! Besides being a father to me and my sister, he also had to be a mother to us. When my mom died, he didn't complain about how he didn't know how to raise two girls, he just did it. He's loving, caring, compassionate, funny, patient, (well, most of the time) and kind! He taught us how to cook; well he taught me how to cook….you know, I could stand here and go over everything that he actually taught us, but what I want to tell you about are the things that you don’t think about until you’re older, the things that I’m really thankful for; For example:
When we were younger, we thought he had no idea what he was talking about. Thank you Dad, for sharing your wisdom and always being right!
Another thing when we were younger, we usually complained about how we always had to go to church every time the doors were open – Today I find myself WANTING to be in church every time the doors are open! Thank you, Dad, for teaching us faithfulness and commitment!
I see people in the world today that crumble every time life throws them curve ball - Thank you, Dad for teaching us about the peace that we can only have by walking in Faith!
I can remember always hearing him praying in his bedroom and the living room - Thank you, Dad for teaching me how to pour my heart out to God and to pray without ceasing!
Dad, without you, I wouldn’t be the woman I am today! I love you with all my heart! I’ll always be your little girl and you’ll always be the best dad in the world!

Boo-Hooing
Gonna miss NV's ugly shirt Father's Day but that's ok cause I'll be with my dad and as I see it, we don't have to have a contest to see who wears and ugly shirt :)

Bad Dog!

No new pets!
Me: "Coney!"
Coney just looks at me like "what?" he moves away from it and I gradually move toward the thing, not wanting to get too close cause I'm a big chicken. and I notice it's a baby bunny!
Me: "Co-ney! You killed a baby bunny!?"
So I grab some oven mitts, a broom and a dust pan - as I'm getting myself together he tries to grab it so I had to yell at him again! Finally I get the nerve to scoop up that poor baby bunny on the dust pan and walk it outside (at arm's length) for a proper burial (the trash).
Dang that dog, if he didn't wake me up twice in the middle of the night wanting to sniff around outside for more!

I needed that!
Profound words of wisdom, huh?
Yesterday was one of those days that at the end of the day you think “whew, I really needed that!” We had two very awesome services at NV then that night went to Lexington to minister to Life Church – another awesome service! Met some new NV people on the hot bus but also got to know more about other NV peeps. Good times.
The first of my nieces/nephews graduated from Meade County High School Friday night! We are so proud of her! She got some awards and already has her CNA license! You go Leah Gayle!!!
I’ve been working on what I’m going to say about my Dad on Father’s Day at his church. Some say just wing it but there’s NO way I could do that! At first I was dreading it because I was sure I would not be able to put into words what I was feeling, but it’s actually coming along quite well. I will confess that I’ve incorporated the blog I wrote on his birthday into it – it at least got me started.

Last night, I was helping Christy do a picture DVD slideshow for her Parents Day Out Graduation. She bought some software that was a little like what I use and wanted to learn how to use it.
We figured out everything about the slideshow and we're getting ready to burn it to a disc, so we pop the disc in and I go to choose the drive that the DVD burner is and I look and it didn't say DVD RW, which normally means it can burn a DVD.
Me: “are you sure this is a DVD burner?”
Christy: “I’m pretty sure…”
Me: “well this drive doesn’t say DVD RW, and normally it would if it was?”
Christy: “so I have to have a DVD burner?”
Me: “yes”
Christy: “Would this work?” (Walking over to a box, clearly marked DVD Burner)
Me: “um, yes!”
She just happened to have that laying around! So we open the box, pulling all the discs and instructions out to get to the good stuff (who needs that, right?) and hook it up to the computer. Now we’re ready! We pop that disc in and….still doesn’t work! Ok, so now to the instructions! After reading the instructions a bit in Spanish, French, German, Japanese, oh and THEN English, we read that the only types of DVDs that are compatible with this burner are DVD-R. Guess what type we have? DVD+R.
Me: “well this is still ok, you can go out tomorrow morning and buy some and still burn it before tomorrow night.”
Christy: “yeah, whew! I was getting worried!”
Me: “well it’s getting late (it was 1:00 AM), I should go.” Getting up grabbing my keys, I notice this case on the desk.
Me: “what’s this? Look! It’s says DVD-R! They must have given you one free with the burner!”
Christy: “PRAISE THE LORD!!!”
Then we did a praise dance and burned that DVD!

Conversations
Sister: "I'm not gonna be able to come tonight, my tooth still hurts a little"
Me: "Tonight?, you mean tomorrow?"
Sister: "what's today?"
Me: "Tuesday"
Sister: "Oh, never mind. Let me tell you what Samantha said..."
Samantha: "Momma, my mouth hurts back here. (pointing to the back of her jaw)
Sister: "oh really, let me see..."
Samantha: (opens wide) "Yeah, I think my dentures are coming in"

Weekend Snipets
My sister had one of her wisdom teeth cut out Friday afternoon. That night we went to a graduation party. She asked me what she should eat, I told her anything soft and that it would take for ever. I think she finally believed me after she had been working on her plate for and hour and a half and hadn't even gotten through a fourth of it!
I took my cousin's kids pictures Saturday afternoon. Ended up taking over 100 pictures. I think only about half look really good. I need to work on that!
My brother in law called me Sunday and asked if I would say something about my dad at his church on Father's Day...I'm pretty nervous about that!
I went to park hops Sunday. I had a good time and will definitely go again.
