Elvis Impersonator

Yesterday I had to go to the dentist and get (shame on me) 5 cavities filled. Yes that's right I said FIVE! It was a long day and when I left I felt like I looked like I just had a stroke, but I only looked that way when I tried to smile. Then later on in the day I looked in the mirror because it felt like the numbness was wearing off and I just had that "Elvis" look when I smiled - it was pretty funny looking actually! BUT in the long run it's paid off because there are two places on my front teeth that I was pretty self conscious about that are now fixed!

Giving and Getting

Yesterday for the 1st time ever, I gave blood! It wasn't as bad as I anticipated, but then again, nothing usually is. I really have no excuse why I haven't given in the past. There was maybe about a 4 year span where I couldn't give because someone told me if you get tattoos or piercings, you can't give for 6 months but other than that, I guess I've been a big chicken! But I'm way over that and now hope to give blood as regularly as I can!

Last night Randy Pastor Randy and Pastor Christy Christy gave me a short little ride to my car since it was pouring down rain and little Hannah looks at me and says as serious as can be, "Kelley, does your husband go to this church?". I chuckle and look at her and say as serious as I can "Yes, I'm sure he does, I just haven't met him yet" He-He sometimes I crack myself up!

FREE from POO

I love my church - where else in the world can you go to church and the pastor talk about poop in the pulpit and it be relevant to the sermon!? I'm such a little kid cause every time he said the word, "poo", "poop", "duty", or "crap" I chuckled a little!

Every Easter all my family goes to aunt Cakkie's house for Easter dinner and we have an Easter egg hunt for the kids, etc. Today I'm sitting there with my "No more shackles, no more chains, no more bondage, I am FREE" shirt....

Sister(in her oh, so cynical tone): "Free? Free from what?"

Me: "Free from everything that ever kept me from serving God the way I do now!"

Silence...... HA! That shut her up! I love it! cause she KNOWS and yet doesn't...

Change...

My thoughts on the way to work this morning:
This weekend is going to be great! OK so Friday night is Communion service, Saturday…Did we have Communion service last year? I don’t remember going. Oh I didn’t go. Why? Hummmm? Oh, I remember, I didn’t want to. Why didn’t I want to? Because it was on a Friday night, I didn’t want to go to church on a Friday night? That's weird - I didn’t think that this year. I was excited this year. Heck, I was even excited when Pastor Curtis told us that we were singing at the Saturday night service! I’ve changed! PTL I’m growing! GET OUT OF THE FAST LANE PEE PAW. Um, yeah, change is a gradual thing.

This weekend is going to be awesome as we impact the heart of the city!

Flood Warning!

WOW! WinterFest was awesome! Radiate Students are DA BOMB! As I was writing this blog trying to explain all the great things that happened at WinterFest, I kept typing sentences and then deleting them, thinking, no, that's not a grand enough sentence or that doesn't REALLY tell what happened! The thing is, without you being there, there is just no explanation for it all. Our teen's lives will never be the same. I guarantee you, you will be able to see the difference in them! Not only did we have great services, we had crazy fun! My roomies were a blast! The theme of WinterFest was "Flood Warning" and let me tell ya - it RAINED! For a while now, I had been struggling on my place in Radiate and if I should even be a youth leader, but last night as the spirit moved all over that place, I felt as the Lord was saying to me "You are right where I want you". I feel like I've just rambled on here so I'll just say one more thing - RADIATE STUDENTS - YOU ROCK!

This weekend

I'm looking forward to this weekend! Friday morning about 6:00 AM (yes AM!) RSM will be heading for WinterFest in TN. We'll be home sometime Sunday evening. As a lifetime COG member, you would think that I had been to WinterFest several times when I was a teen, but as I was on the way to work this morning I could only remember going to WinterFest one time. So then I started thinking "wonder why?" Then it came to me, when I was a teen the church I went to didn't have a Youth Pastor, let alone even a youth group this size - I think there were 4 of us! I hope that our teens truly appreciate what they have!
So what's that old saying "Those that can, do, Those that can't chaperon"?
There will be lives changed this weekend and I'm very excited - and to top it all off, there will be Go-Carts!!! How much more fun can you ask for?!

Wishes DO come true

Well, I got that snow I wished for and it was a good one! I went sledding Friday night with some friends. Well to be honest, I only went down the hill once! That was enough for me. For SOME reason my group picked the hill that if you didn't stop in time, you were going into the lake! The hill I went down, if you didn't stop in time, you would have only hit a fence. Call me crazy, but I think I'd rather have a busted noggin instead of drowning in a freezing iced over lake! I guess I'm just not a thrill seeker! It was still good times.

Let it snow!

I'm glad the meteorologists are calling for all this snow! I just hope we get what they say. I'm tired of all this piddly one day snow. I say if it's gonna snow, LET it SNOW!!! Bring it on! I'm so ready for Spring!

I need more....

A comment on Twitter the other day made me think about how many txt messages I have on my cell phone account. Since I really didn't txt that much before Twitter, I really couldn't remember, so I called to check. 300. Hum 300, that's enough, right? So then I check to see how many I've used. 219. and that's just in 5 days! DOAH! I think I need more! what do you think?

Psalm 56:3

A good friend gave me a pretty awesome book for Christmas. It’s a daily devotional by Max Lucado called Grace for the Moment II. Anyone that knows me KNOWS that I don’t read for fun, so for me to read this book every day is something that I consider to be a chore. Now I’ll be honest, with ya, I don’t read it daily but I do, do a lot of catch up reading during the week. So Friday as I was catching up, I read Wednesday’s entry. What it said made perfect sense to me and I really need to do my best to remember this everyday!
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Psalm 56:3 NLT

How did Jesus endure the terror of the crucifixion? He went first to the Father with his fears. He modeled the words of Psalm 56:3.

Do the same with yours. Don't avoid life's Gardens of Gethsemane. Enter them. Just don't enter them alone. And while there, be honest. Pounding the ground is permitted. Tears are allowed. And if you sweat blood, you won’t be the first. Do what Jesus did; open your heart.

And be specific. Jesus was. "Take this cup," he prayed. Give God the number of the flight. Tell him the length of the speech. Share the details of the job transfer. He has plenty of time. He also has plenty of compassion.

He doesn't think your fears are foolish or silly. He won't tell you to "buck up" or "get tough."

He's been where you are. He knows how you feel.

And he knows what you need."
